KINDERGARTEN TEACHER

Posted - 22nd June 2018

Steiner Academy Exeter is at the cutting edge of delivering the Steiner Waldorf curriculum in the state-funded sector. We opened in 2013 and will reach our full capacity of 624 children from 4-16 years by 2021. In the 2018-19 academic year, we will have over 480 children, spread across five kindergartens and classes 1-10.

We are now seeking exceptional kindergarten teachers to join our strong Early Years department in September 2018, taking mixed classes of new and existing pupils from Reception and Year 1 as they embark on the first stage of their learning journey. Although our preference is to appoint full time staff, there may be an opportunity for co-teaching or a job share.

The ideal candidates will be excellent and experienced Steiner Waldorf kindergarten teachers, who will join our teaching team as we continue to grow and embrace the opportunities of delivering Steiner education to children who would not normally have access to it.

As kindergarten teacher you will hold a group of up to 22 children in Reception and Year 1, including children just joining the school from nurseries and pre-schools all over Exeter.

You will be part of a vibrant and committed team of staff, joining us in our PURPOSE BUILT school set in BEAUTIFUL GROUNDS on the edge of Exeter.

You will have a Steiner early years training qualification and experience of teaching children from a wide range of backgrounds. You will also have a flexible approach to work and a willingness to expand your own professional expertise in a young and innovative school.

INSPIRING AND INSPIRED TEACHERS WANTED
MIDDLE SCHOOL CLASS GUARDIAN

Posted - 15th June 2018

To join our Middle School Team working with classes 7 and 8, (Y 8 and 9).

We are now recruiting for a teacher to join our Middle School Team as Class Guardian. The successful candidate will have pastoral responsibility for a class of 26+, will teach main lessons and a subject specialism primarily to classes 7 and 8.

In September 2018 the school will have two class 6s, two class 7s, and one each of classes 8, 9 and 10. By 2021 we will have parallel classes throughout the school.

The upper school classes (9 and 10) are supported by an Upper School Guardian, the lower school classes (1-6) by a Class Teacher. In classes 7 and 8 the role of pastoral support and contributing teacher is a hybrid of the two roles, both in nature and in the name of Class Guardian.

The Class Guardians will be expected to work closely together as a team, looking for opportunities to maximise collaboration between groups and to manage a smooth transition between lower and upper school.

In addition to carrying the pastoral responsibility for one class, the Class Guardian is likely to teach main lessons in up to four different classes and to develop one or more subject specialisms.

You will be joining our school at an exciting and challenging time as we continue to grow and embrace the opportunities of delivering Steiner education within the maintained education sector.

Ideally you will have one or more of the following (in order of significance): a Steiner teacher training qualification; extensive experience in a Steiner setting, experience of teaching children from a wide range of backgrounds, a flexible approach to work and a willingness to expand your own professional expertise, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
